People in the Seats: Restaurant Profits

Many restaurants suffer from no people in the seats on Mondays, Tuesdays, and sometimes Wednesday. Increasing diner count is easy, simply give them a “bargain”:

Buy One Entree, Get the Second at Half Price;
Dessert, Half Price, with Our Blue Plate Special;
Seniors, 50% Discount on Entrees; and
Children (Under 12) Free Entrees From Our Children’s Menu.

Notice that I have discounted entrees only, which are not the highest profit items on the menu.  Drinks represent a restaurant highest profit item and the customer must as for the discount when paying his bill. Careful analysis of your per meal cost will show that a 25% discount on two entrees will still yield a profitable meal when combined with high profit beverages.

The next goal is to get them to register on your Facebook Fan page.  This requires everyone working as Cashier to follow fixed procedures when a customer pays his bill.
